Now South Coast Nursing Homes are working with Northbrook College to deliver the Apprenticeship Scheme. It’s a great result for all involved.

January 23rd, 2012

Emma Goldsmith, South Coast Nursing Homes Training & Development Manager is excited to announce that SCNH Ltd is now in partnership with Northbrook College. This will enable staff to undertake their apprenticeship fully funded in Health & Social Care whilst keeping to their current work commitments.

“This is a win, win opportunity for the employee and employer” says Emma. “Staff will end up with a Diploma qualification as well as key skills all embedded into their current roles and responsibilities and we do not loose staff from the floor whilst they are learning at college. This is in fact learning on the floor not in the classroom”.

Northbrook are working with SCNH to look at staff who have previously completed NVQ qualification but now have the interest and skills to proceed to a Diploma level 3. This is a very unique opportunity and one that may not be seen again for a while.

With the opening of our new home, Abundant Grace we will be looking forward to using the apprenticeship scheme to entice new young, hopeful candidates to the area of health and social care. It will also be an opportunity for employees to use this apprenticeship scheme as a stepping stone into other avenues of health and social care. For example, potential employees could use the apprenticeship as a 1 – 2 year paid work experience to gain relevant skills needed into their chosen areas of health & social care.

This a very exciting time for SCNH and its staff to be able to work alongside Northbrook College to develop new and existing staffs training and development needs through the apprenticeship scheme.

“Going forward we will have a workforce that is empowered through the opportunity to learn and develop skills whilst supported in their work environment”.

Eastridge Manor brings you Sussex by the Sea fun day

September 1st, 2011

What a fantastic turnout to a beautiful and fun filled day at Eastridge Manor EMI nursing and Care home. All the residents enjoyed a wonderful day of excitement and treats. The weather was murky to begin with so the skittles challenge was held indoors. After an authentic seaside Fish n Chip lunch the sun shone, the music played and the fun began. Candy Floss, Ices and Rollmops were all on the menu that afternoon. Many families enjoyed the magic show, Punch Judy Show and especially the fortune teller Hortense who has true spiritual abilities! A great day, memories forever – well done to all staff and volunteers.
